Describe the mechanical symptom
Does the blade go fully into the lock? Does it stop while turning, or is the problem removing it? Say whether the difficulty appeared suddenly or gradually, and whether the key is new, bent or broken.
Normal use and key removal depend on the car. Check the appropriate vehicle manual and avoid force or bending the blade. If a piece has broken, describe where it is and what remains with you.
A key stuck in the ignition or not turningCompare the key and the particular lock
If a spare is available, tell us whether it works in the same mechanism. Mention whether a blade works in the door but not the ignition, or the reverse. That comparison helps the enquiry without replacing inspection.
A remote that unlocks the door does not prove that the blade fits the mechanical lock. Likewise, turning a lock does not prove that the car recognizes the key for starting. Describe those results separately.
The key turns but the car does not start
Say how the vehicle responds, what appears on the dashboard and whether another key changes the result. Failure to start alone is not a diagnosis of the ignition lock.
The next enquiry may concern key recognition or another vehicle issue. The scope of locksmith work and any separate investigation should be clarified before choosing an ignition replacement.
Mechanical operation and starting recognitionLock repair versus unlocking a locked car
If a working key remains inside the car, the request may be for access only. If you hold the key but the lock does not operate normally, explain that. Restoring access and investigating a damaged mechanism are different jobs.
For a door or boot problem, identify the affected lock and remaining ways of access. Treatment and the possibility of work at the vehicle depend on its structure and system.
A working key locked inside the carBefore agreeing to repair or replacement
Ask which part has the problem and what the proposed solution includes. If replacement is proposed, clarify what happens to the existing key and whether further mechanical or electronic adaptation is needed.
The quote should define parts, arrival, labour and relevant checks. If a broken key is involved, ask whether preparing a usable key afterwards is included. Confirm warranty conditions for the particular job.
Questions for an ignition or lock quoteFinal checks and mobile coordination
Test the mechanism treated and the functions agreed. If a blade or key changes, clarify the locks it is intended to operate and ensure starting recognition is checked when included in the job. Ask for an explanation of replaced parts and normal use.
Send the make, model, year, location and problem description. Mention previous attempts and any part left inside a lock. Key Replacement confirms suitability and availability and explains the scope before work.
