No remote unlocking, no starting or a recognition message?
Describe the response to buttons, mechanical unlocking and starting. With push-button starting, report any key message too. A silent remote does not prove programming is needed, and failure to start may involve another vehicle fault.
| Symptom | What to check or describe | What to discuss |
|---|---|---|
| Remote buttons do not respond | Whether a spare locks and unlocks; whether this key starts | A remote or key check without assuming programming |
| Key unlocks but car will not start | Whether it turns or is recognized; dashboard messages | Whether a key-system check fits the situation |
| A “key not detected” message appears | Exact message and response to another key | Key compatibility and recognition system for the model |
| Blade will not turn | Which lock; whether another blade turns there | Blade and lock inspection, separate from remote functions |
Compare the same functions with a spare
If a spare is available, check unlocking, locking and starting on the same car. One key working while another fails is useful information. Report if neither works; that result alone is not a diagnosis.
An enquiry can begin without a spare. For intermittent operation, describe when the key responds. After checking the fault, you can ask about a suitable backup.
Information about making another spare car keyDoes the key fail only sometimes or in certain places?
Mention a particular car park, the key inside a bag or its proximity to a phone. Report whether moving location or the key changes the response and whether a battery warning appears. These observations add context without diagnosing the fault.
Temporary improvement does not prove that reprogramming is required or the battery is sound. The interference guide includes manufacturer examples and details to record before inspection.
Interference and shielding: intermittent key recognitionNo response after battery replacement
Say whether the fault began before or after the replacement. Battery specification and assembly should follow instructions for the exact key. Replacement alone does not establish that the problem is solved or programming is required.
Mention a drop, water exposure or shell change. A photo can help but cannot replace inspection. State clearly if starting works while remote buttons do not.
The key unlocks but the car will not start
The blade turning a lock and recognition for starting are separate functions. Say whether this is a previously working key or a new one, and how the car responds to a key turn or start-button press.
Photograph any dashboard message and provide its wording. This description alone does not prove lost programming. First establish whether key checking, compatibility work or another vehicle service is needed.
Mechanical blade cutting and electronic key programmingIs the key inside the car or completely lost?
A working key locked inside calls for an unlocking enquiry. With all keys lost, ask about making a replacement. Both differ from a fault in a key you hold.
Say where the key is, whether the car is locked and whether another driver has a working key. These details help identify the service before arranging arrival.

Send the make, model, year, a key photo if available, a short description of working and failed functions, and vehicle location. Mention recent changes such as battery replacement or a drop.
