What does programming mean for your car?
Tell us which function you want to add or restore. A mechanical blade that opens a door is not proof that a transponder is recognized for starting. A functioning remote is also not proof that every other key function is compatible.
Provide the model, year and how you start the car. Describe any dashboard message accurately. The enquiry establishes whether the proposed work concerns the key system or whether something else needs investigation.
Blade, transponder, remote or smart keyA new key with a working key available
Mention the existing working keys and what each does. Discuss whether the proposed additional key needs mechanical access, starting, remote buttons or proximity functions. Preparation should match the agreed purpose.
Ask which keys need to be present with the vehicle and which functions will be tested at the end. Programming is not defined only by obtaining a key with a matching logo.
Preparing an additional car keyNo working key remains
If all keys are lost, say so at the start. Preparing a compatible replacement without a working key can differ from adding a remote to a vehicle that already has a usable key.
State whether the vehicle is locked and where it is parked. The replacement method, work at the car and arrival availability are checked for the particular system.
Lost car key replacement enquiryThe key starts the car but the buttons do not work
Describe each button and what the vehicle does, and compare a spare if available. Mention a battery replacement, drop, moisture or case change that preceded the issue.
Do not decide in advance that the remote has lost programming. The symptom can need a different enquiry from failure to start. A useful description helps avoid buying another key before understanding the issue.
Remote functions and key programmingA smart key is not recognized
Give the exact message and describe whether another key changes the result. Include push-button starting and handle access separately. Successful mechanical opening does not resolve whether starting recognition works.
Manual examples and operating instructions depend on the exact model, year and equipment. Do not apply an emergency starting method from another car. Check your own vehicle manual and explain the circumstances of the problem.
Describe a key recognition problemPrice, separately supplied parts and final tests
Tell us if the key was purchased elsewhere, particularly if it is used. Compatibility is checked for the part and vehicle; matching appearance is insufficient. Ask what part, work and warranty are included in the proposal.
At completion, test the agreed functions and clarify the status of existing keys. If driver preferences need separate pairing, ask about that using the vehicle instructions. Three-month replacement-key warranty terms are discussed before work.
