Check the functions included in your order
Review the functions with the service provider and vehicle together. There is no need to test a function the car does not have or that was not part of the solution.
| Component or function | Check for your order | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanical blade | Access through the agreed lock | Is the blade included? |
| Starting | Key recognition and starting for this vehicle | What should be checked on other keys? |
| Remote buttons | Agreed unlocking, locking and other buttons | Which functions are included? |
| Keyless entry | The specified proximity functions | Does this match the existing key functions? |
| Shell and mechanism | Assembly, buttons and any folding blade | What was replaced and retained? |
Check existing keys too
If the work included matching to the vehicle system, ask which other keys need checking. Mention a key that was not with the vehicle. Do not assume its current functions just because it worked before.
If a missing key is found later, report that before relying on it as a spare. Check its functions in relation to the work performed.
The car starts, but the driver profile does not load
A new-key check does not always end with starting. On vehicles supporting key-linked profiles, use the vehicle manual to check that the chosen profile and preferences load. Linking a profile can be separate from making a key and enabling starting.
If seats, mirrors or preferences do not return as expected, describe what works with the new key and how the previous key behaves. The driver-memory guide distinguishes key recognition, profile selection and memory buttons.
Driver profiles and seat memory after key replacementKeep a record of the solution
Keep the business name, contact details and description of the parts and work. Save warranty information or a work document for your own use. These details help explain a later enquiry.
Sensitive key markings or vehicle documents do not need to be published online to show the work was done. Arrange any information needed for checking directly with the service provider.
If a problem appears after the work
Report the function that fails, when it appeared and which key is being used. Say whether another key has the same problem and whether anything changed, such as a drop or battery replacement.
A precise description helps more than saying everything fails. Ask how the key and warranty coverage should be checked before replacing another component.
Keep an accessible backup
A spare is useful when stored separately from the main key somewhere reachable when needed. Its holder should know which vehicle it belongs to and which functions it provides.
If only one key remains, enquire about another later. Define that separate request according to the functions you need.
