How to identify the correct battery
Check manufacturer instructions for the key and vehicle version, including the specified battery marking. Do not choose by vehicle badge alone. For example, the US Corolla 2024 manual distinguishes conventional remote and smart-key batteries. Even one model name can therefore have different instructions.
A similar marking or size is not sufficient. If unsure, photograph the key and provide vehicle details before buying a battery.
Use the correct manual, not a similar-looking fob video
Opening the shell, battery location and installation orientation must suit your exact key. Instructions for a similar shell may not apply. If the shell no longer closes normally or becomes damaged, stop and arrange a check.
Keep the parts and note the marking on the removed battery. Explain whether the key worked before replacement and whether its buttons or blade changed after opening the shell.
The remote stopped working after battery replacement
Describe the functions that fail: unlocking, locking, keyless entry or starting. If another key is available, compare the same functions. Its response is useful information but does not establish the cause by itself.
Battery replacement alone is not a reason to order programming. Begin by checking the battery specification, the key and what happened during replacement, then determine the next check.
How to describe an unresponsive car key or remoteA low fob battery and a vehicle battery problem differ
When the vehicle does not respond, distinguish an explicit key-battery warning from a possible vehicle power issue. Report the messages and behaviour you see rather than assuming the same component is responsible.
Check the exact vehicle manual for access or key use with a weak fob battery. A backup blade or alternative recognition method, where provided, is not the same across all models.
Repeated warnings or intermittent operation
Record when the warning appears and whether another key behaves differently. Mention whether the problem began after battery replacement, a drop, water exposure or a shell change. An organized description is more useful than further part changes without identifying the cause.
To enquire with Key Replacement, send the model, year and a key photo. We will check whether the enquiry fits a key inspection and what needs to be available.
