Explain the behaviour rather than saying the ignition is faulty
Does the key enter fully or turn part of the way? Did the problem begin with a new key? Does it occur in only one lock? These details help decide whether the blade, lock or vehicle operating conditions need checking.
For a key that will not leave the ignition, consult the key-removal instructions for the specific vehicle. One instruction does not cover every model or operating state.
A worn, bent or newly made key
Describe any visible blade damage and whether use became difficult gradually or changed suddenly. If another key is available, explain how it works in the same lock. That comparison can focus the enquiry without providing a complete diagnosis.
If a new key will not turn, say who made it and which functions it was intended to provide. Further cutting or programming will not automatically solve every mechanical problem.
Do not push or twist the blade with force
If the key does not move normally, avoid bending it or forcing it to turn. Stop if a piece breaks and explain where it is. Inserting tools or the other key fragment can change the situation before inspection.
Applying an unsuitable substance to a lock is also not a substitute for checking the problem. Report any attempts already made so the inspection addresses the current condition.
A lock fault differs from unresponsive remote buttons
If the remote buttons unlock the door but the blade will not turn in it, report both facts. A key that turns while the vehicle fails to start is another situation, requiring a description of the vehicle response.
Distinguishing mechanical operation from starting recognition helps match the service to the problem. You do not need the system name; explain what you tried and what happened.
Key cutting and programming: what is the difference? What to arrange before a visit
State whether the car is accessible or locked and whether the key is inside it or trapped in a lock. Give the location and parking conditions. We can check service suitability and what needs to be available.
Lock work, blade preparation and making a new key should be explained separately in the quote. Understand what is required before agreeing to replacement of an assembly.
