Mégane 4 and other versions
The sources here concern Mégane 4 phase 2, in the edition marked from 29 November 2019 on Renault’s international English portal. It describes card functions for doors, boot and lighting. This does not establish compatibility for another generation or an electric Mégane.
Send the production year, card photo and registered model. Mention a replacement card supplied with the car. Similar shells cannot establish the functions required for your vehicle.
The card will not lock: was the engine running?
The checked edition’s fault table says card locking and unlocking buttons are disabled with the engine running. It also lists a weak card battery, environmental interference and the vehicle battery as possible factors in no response. This makes the testing circumstances important.
Explain whether the card responds with the engine off, whether the second key behaves alike and what the dashboard displays. An improperly closed boot can also affect locking according to the manual. These details distinguish card faults from vehicle operating conditions.
Weak battery, damaged shell or another card
The Mégane 4 phase 2 manual mentions “Keycard Battery Low” in relation to the card battery. Reduced range can begin with a battery enquiry. If the card bent in a pocket or broke in a fall, describe the damage and remaining functions too.
| What happened | What to report |
|---|---|
| Remote range shortened | Dashboard message and recent battery replacement |
| Card broke | Exterior photo and whether it still starts |
| Another card is needed | Required spare functions and an available existing card |
| No card remains | Locking status and full model details |
Existing spare cards and complete loss
When requesting another card, state which cards remain and where they are. The manual directs customers needing replacement to bring the vehicle and all cards to the authorised provider. Ask beforehand which keys to bring for the planned work.
If all cards are lost, say so immediately. A card you cannot obtain is not an available spare. Report locking status, accessibility and any card inside the vehicle.
What should be checked at completion?
Agree unlocking, locking, starting and additional card functions fitted to your Mégane. If only the boot or one button was faulty, request that check explicitly. Mention a part bought online beforehand so suitability can be discussed.
