Describe how you use the car: a card and start button, or a key turned in the ignition. List the button functions and which operations fail. Do not assume all Renault cards have the same functions.
If a mechanical part is available for access, follow the vehicle manual for its use. Door access alone does not establish that the card is recognized for starting.
A weak card battery or an undetected card?
Renault’s Kardian manual addresses the low card battery message separately from a card-not-detected situation. Report the exact wording, preferably with a photo. This is more useful than simply saying “the card is dead.”
Say whether the buttons work, locking and unlocking are possible, and starting succeeds. Do not assume every recognition message will be resolved by a battery change or reprogramming.
How to describe an existing key that is not workingBackup locations and procedures depend on the model
When a card is not detected, the vehicle manual may provide backup instructions for that particular system. Do not copy a location or sequence from a video about another Renault. Check the manual for your model and year.
If you followed a manual instruction, report the result. If the car still does not respond, describe its condition instead of continuing repeated attempts without diagnosis.
A broken card or opened casing
Keep the parts and photograph them. Say whether the fault followed pressure, a drop, opening the casing or a battery change. Casing damage and an electronics fault are different issues; some functions may remain intact.
Do not choose a replacement casing only by button count. The structure and mechanism must be checked against the actual card.
Key casings and buttons: what to checkA spare Renault card or no keys left
With a working card, the inquiry is about preparing a backup and testing its functions. If no card is available, say so at the outset and include whether the car is locked and where it is located. Options depend on the vehicle system.
The source below covers one model, not every Renault. For a price and scheduling inquiry with Key Replacement, send the model, year, any card photo and whether a working key remains.
